A visit to Beaver Valley Community School

I had an absolutely unforgettable experience during my recent visit to Beaver Valley Community School. The highlight of my day was undoubtedly the opportunity to share my passion for poetry and music with Mr Kulakowsky's delightful 3rd graders. It was truly heartwarming to see their faces light up as we explored the world of artistic expression together.

Afterward, I was thrilled to have the chance to spend the rest of the day in Miss Mel Kearns' music room, where I had the pleasure of interacting with students from grades 3 to 8. It was truly inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and curiosity as we discussed the profound connection between music and emotions, my personal journey as an international black artist, and the importance of encouraging creative arts in our schools.

The reception I received from the students was nothing short of phenomenal. I was honored and humbled to sign autographs on shoes, shirts, arms, bags, and even water bottles! I cannot express enough gratitude to Mr K and Mel for extending this invitation to me and for creating such a welcoming educational space. Their initiative in opening the doors to engage more black artists in the school system is truly commendable.

Overall, my visit to Beaver Valley Community School was an absolute joy and a true privilege. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have shared my love for poetry and music with such a fantastic group of students and to have been part of such an important initiative.
